Meet A Few of Our Certified Coaches: Real Stories from Graduates of The Freedom Way®

Why Becoming an Equine Assisted Coach Could Be the Path You’ve Been Looking For

Becoming an Equine Assisted Coach is more than a career path—it’s a calling. It’s for those who feel a deep pull to help others, who understand the healing power of horses, and who are ready to turn passion into purpose. At The Freedom Way®, we believe in creating a community of soulful, skilled practitioners who are dedicated to transformation—their own and others’.

We are always honored to spotlight some of our certified coaches. Their stories remind us of why this work matters and what’s possible when we say yes to our calling. If you’ve been considering this work, we hope these stories will not only inspire you, but help you see what’s waiting for you on the other side of the gate.

Meet Deb Steinbrink of Heartprints Equine

Deb’s journey into Equine Assisted Coaching was inspired by personal experience—watching loved ones face addiction and anxiety, and seeing how horses brought healing when words fell short. Her serene ranch, Heartprints Equine, now offers a safe space for clients to explore emotions and reconnect with their inner strength through the intuitive presence of horses.

Deb was drawn to The Freedom Way® because of its flexibility and heart-centered approach. “It isn’t scripted or rigid,” she says. “Each coach is encouraged to use their unique gifts, their empathy, and intuition.” For Deb, honoring the horse as a partner—not a prop—is what makes the work so sacred.

Today, she shares moments of insight and transformation with her clients. “The gift of witnessing a client have an ‘a-ha!’ moment is everything.” And the life she’s created? Filled with purpose, fresh air, and horses. “I feel like I’ve found my calling,” she says.

Meet Karisa Kloscak, MC, LP-AZ, LPCC-CA

Karisa was already an established psychotherapist when she found The Freedom Way®. Drawn by her own transformative experiences with horses, she knew it was time to bring that healing into her practice. “It can be hard to find safety or calm in the body,” Karisa says, “and horses provide a gentle way of approaching daunting work.”

Her decision to train with The Freedom Way® was about more than content—it was about connection. “The community is incredibly supportive, and I felt safe to learn at my pace. I was able to ask for what I needed in terms of horsemanship and business growth.”

From once sitting quietly by a horse in tears, to now running transformational group sessions, Karisa reflects, “My confidence has increased, which helps me spark that in others. I can’t thank The Freedom Way® and horses enough for the shift in my life and practice.”

Meet Laurie Roach of PickSix Equine Guided Healing

After years as a social worker and therapist, Laurie found herself longing to return to her first love—horses. When she moved to Arizona in 2019 and brought her son (who experiences anxiety) to the barn, she saw firsthand how powerful equine connection could be. That’s when her path became clear: she needed to bring her clinical experience and horsemanship together.

Laurie became certified through The Freedom Way® in December 2021 and has since launched PickSix Equine Guided Healing. “Being an equine assisted coach doesn’t feel like ‘work,’” Laurie shares. “It’s a wonderful career that blends my passion for helping others with my favorite thing in the world—horses.”

What she loves most? “Watching children, adults, and families become the versions of themselves that they deserve to be.” Laurie also works with rescue horses, offering healing to both humans and animals. Her advice? “Be open-minded and trust the process of building a business that WILL be successful.”

Meet Tami Blake of The Enlightened Soul

Tami brings a diverse background in energy work, yoga, equine bodywork, and trauma-informed care into her coaching practice. She became certified through The Freedom Way® in December 2020, and the addition of Equine Assisted Coaching has added powerful depth to her offerings. She now works with individuals of all ages, creating a safe space for healing—particularly for those navigating trauma and PTSD.

“I have volunteered with an at-risk kids riding group for years,” Tami shares. “I wanted to take my work to the next level—helping not just children, but also adults, and allowing horses to be part of that healing process.”

What she loves most about the work? “The transformations people go through when they allow themselves to be vulnerable with the horse. There is no judgment from the horses.” Tami’s advice to aspiring coaches? “Don’t have any expectations. Clear your mind and let the horse guide the session.”

Becoming an Equine Assisted Coach, Tami says, “has opened the door to help others in new ways.”

Are You Feeling the Nudge?

Deb, Karisa, Laurie, and Tami are just a few of the many heart-centered, powerful practitioners who have stepped into this life-changing work—and the impact they’re having is extraordinary. They started with a desire to help others and a deep respect for the healing power of horses. What they found at The Freedom Way® was a community, a structure that supports their growth, and the freedom to be themselves while doing this sacred work.
