Are You Ready? Trusting Your Heart Over Your Plans

If you’re feeling that inner tug, that pull to step into equine-assisted coaching but wonder if you’re truly prepared, you’re not alone. Many of us feel called to something more, yet worry that we’re not ready to take that leap. I remember this feeling all too well—the mix of excitement and fear, and the belief that I had to have every detail in place before I could move forward.

Years ago, I found myself in a seemingly ideal position—a secure, well-paying career, with clear opportunities for growth. From the outside, I was on a solid path, but on the inside, my heart and soul were suffocating. Many mornings, I sat in the parking lot, holding back tears before stepping into the office. The work I was doing no longer aligned with who I was, yet I kept telling myself that I needed to push through and make it work.

I convinced myself that this was just the price of success, repeating the common mantras: "put in the time," "be grateful for what you have." But my body and spirit told me otherwise. The stress and unhappiness were eroding who I was at my core, and I couldn’t ignore it any longer.

Then came a pivotal moment—my husband sat me down for a heart-to-heart. He saw the change in me, the weight I carried. He helped me realize that I wasn’t just stressed; I was losing myself in the process. I defended my job and the security it offered, despite the toll it was taking. The thought of leaving terrified me. I had daydreams of starting something new, something meaningful, but what would that look like? Could I make it?

I told myself I needed more skills, more planning, a clear sign from the universe to make such a bold move. I kept waiting, thinking my readiness would come from external validation or perfect planning. But I finally realized that readiness doesn’t come from having all the answers or a mapped-out plan.

Discovering Inner Readiness

The turning point came when I learned that true readiness comes from within. It’s an inner knowing, a deep alignment with your heart and soul saying, “Yes.” Even if the steps aren’t clear, that “Yes” is your signal to move forward.

I took a leap and gave my 30-day notice. I didn’t have all the answers, but I knew I had to follow my soul’s call. The journey since has been filled with twists and turns, some of them unexpected. I dabbled in real estate before discovering that coaching was my true calling. Over time, this evolved into equine-assisted coaching, a blend of soul-centered and equine-guided practices that help others find their own path.

Looking back, I wasn’t prepared, but I was ready, and that made all the difference. Plans and preparation have their place, but true readiness is a feeling—a trust in yourself and the journey ahead. Even without a straight path, I trusted I would find my way.

Trusting the “Yes” from Within

When your heart says “Yes,” that’s your true readiness. It’s your inner wisdom telling you, “You’re ready,” even if the whole picture isn’t clear. The universe has a way of supporting you when you take that first brave step. Instead of waiting for a perfect plan, trust the feeling in your heart.

Taking that step is like walking into the unknown, trusting that each step will appear just when you need it. This kind of trust doesn’t require a detailed plan, just a vision and the courage to move forward. Vision and trust go hand in hand, allowing you to follow your heart’s guidance and leave the details to unfold in their own time.

Moving Beyond “Not Enough”

The fear of “not enough” will often show up when you feel that inner tug to take a leap. Maybe you think you need more experience or knowledge, but staying in that mindset only keeps you stuck. Readiness is about aligning with your heart’s desire, trusting you have enough to begin, and letting go of the idea that every detail must be sorted out.

So, if you feel that pull, that nudge from your heart, take a moment to listen. Chances are, you’re more ready than you realize. Trust that “Yes,” and know that the universe will catch you.

If you’re feeling that pull but aren’t sure where to begin, let’s connect. Sometimes, taking that first step toward your heart’s desire is all it takes to open a new path and align you with your true purpose. Trusting your soul’s “Yes” could be the start of a powerful journey—one that leads you closer to the life calling you forward.
